I’ve finished my series of blue toned Polaroid images of trees which I was making for the exhibition that we held at the Collective at the end of November. There are nine in the set as I wanted to display them in a 3x3 grid.
I find Polaroid film fascinating, the way that the chemicals react to give unexpected tones or colours can always be a surprise. These are monochrome images split-toned to add the blue into the shadow areas yet there’s a pink hue appeared within the highlights. All nine can be seen in more detail on my website.
Continuing with the blue theme I also reworked some of my ‘Reconstructed Nature’ leaf images for the exhibition.
The Revolve project is still in progress. Some of the 17 artists taking part in the 52-week endeavour had another get together this month so I printed out some more images of my still life images in a tin.
I plan some of these shots in advance, others come together by chance and are relatively straightforward – I happened to grab the batteries (shown on the second row up) before they went out to be recycled, for example. Other images come together on the fly – the shot below started off with some old pieces of pasta which would have been bit obvious on their own but after a quick browse through a recipe book and a raid on the fridge we end up with, hopefully, something a bit more interesting.
