I’ve been working on a collaboration with Philadelphia based artist Stella Untalan for a while and finally got around to putting this first collection on my website.
Stella and I had a zine and artwork exchange a while back. The piece of work she sent me sits in my hallway and I see it numerous times each day. It was the inspiration for our collaboration – I have interpreted her design through generative coding to produce a number of works where the lines and colour vary randomly. Stella has editing down the output to eight variations and the original is shown alongside them.
At the start of June I had a video piece included within the exhibition ‘Visual Vibrations’ – video and film by ArtCan artists shown over the 4 days of Westival, Pembrokeshire.
My entry ‘Base2’ is a visual representation of numbers ascending from 0 to 15 in binary with the letters of the words ‘zero’ and ‘one’ translated into coloured blocks.
After seeing a piece from Sopheap Pich's 'Civitella Vertical Rays' series, I was inspired to explore the idea, these are monoprints with acrylic ink. I’ve done a few now but not really sure where they’re going next. I feel that they need to be part of a larger project, or I need to come up with a concept to hang them off.
At the end of July we’re having an Open House so I’ve been helping to organise that and starting to think about which work to show.
…and I moved my studio around a bit. As well as more working space it also means I can look up the street towards Edgar Tower and the cathedral when sat at my desk rather than down the street at the barbers and the tattoo shop.
