Re-revisiting old negs
Whilst formatting my recently downloaded Instagram posts into archive pages on my website I came across a number of images from my Holga plastic-lensed toy camera taken some years earlier.
Having found a book about the Holga in a charity shop recently, I was thinking of shooting with it again for that unpredictable, not quite knowing what’s going to come out excitement that you just don’t get with digital. Or maybe that’s all just nostalgic thinking.
The Holga was one of my first creative pursuits, I learned how to develop my own film and it got to the point where I was actually carrying the plastic contraption around with me on a daily basis. Looking back, I didn’t actually take that many rolls of film with it but it was undeniably the start of my artistic journey.
Below, then, the images from 2004/5 that I revisited in 2017 when I posted them on Instagram.
PS. ‘Holga, The World Through a Plastic Lens’ is the book I came across, published by lomography ISBN 3-902217-07-3
